This award-winning comedy by Yorkshire playwright John Godber tells the tale of Arthur Hoyle, ex-pro Rugby League player, who makes a rash bet with Reg Welsh, manager of The Cobblers Arms, a crack Pub League Sevens team, that he can train up a team to beat them. Only trouble is, the team Reg proposes for the challenge is from The Wheatsheaf Arms – a team who have never won a game, can’t even field seven players, and spend more time in the pub than on the pitch. With just five weeks to go, can Arthur coach them to beat the mighty Cobbler’s Arms in a cup final?
