When you start life abandoned in a handbag at Victoria station, it’s difficult to convince the formidable Lady Bracknell of the respectability of your parents and your past. So how will Jack gain the hand of her daughter, the beautiful Gwendolen? And how can Jack and his cousin Algernon persuade Gwendolen and Cecily that they do not need to marry a man named Ernest?

Described by its author, Oscar Wilde, as ‘A Trivial Comedy for Serious People’, this is a brilliant and wildly funny story of romance, mistaken identity, perambulators and capacious handbags.
