Saturday Matinee 2.30pm
The hilarious story of eccentric tour guide Lettice Douffet who entertains visitors to a dull stately home by theatrically embellishing history with lurid stories.
After her dismissal she persuades, with strong medieval drink, the Preservation Trust’s Inspector to act out dramatic events from history. Unfortunately their re-enactment of the death of Charles I goes wrong with unexpected results.
Hailed by critics as one of Peter Shaffer’s funniest plays it had a long West End run with Maggie Smith and Margaret Tyzack in the lead roles.
This amateur production of “Lettice and Lovage” is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH LTD a Concord Theatricals company.
