The Little Theatre is opening its doors for a show-stopping open day that anyone can enjoy.

The event, which takes place on Saturday 20th June, promises to excite and enthral a variety of theatre lovers and those with a strong interest alike; whether you fancy dressing up in costumes, learning more about backstage or even learning what it takes to be a part of the lighting and technical side, there really is something for everyone.

As a Theatre which has a dedicated following of amazing volunteers, we are always on the lookout for people – with any interest – to come on board on lend a hand.

What to Expect

The Open Day is a perfect opportunity to have any questions you may have answered, learn more about what we do, and could lead you to meet some fantastic, like-minded people who truly have love for the stage. I visited an opening evening once before and ended up meeting a wonderful selection of people – I even gained the opportunity to become the technical editor of SCENE, all in the space of a short evening!

Admission on the day is completely free and promises to be a fun-filled event with lots to see and do for all ages. So grab your friends, get your best acting skills at the ready, and prepare to enjoy a theatrical event that could be more useful than you could ever imagine. What’s more, if you decide to become a member on the day, your year-long membership will run until August 2016.

Jennifer Harding, who is organising the event, said: “The event is an Open Day – but there are lots of Theatre Activities for people to be involved in – so things to “Do” rather than just things to “Look at”.

“We have activities available for all ages – there is a colouring competition for children, and things to do and make. People can dress up in costumes from Wardrobe, take part in acting workshops, learn more about backstage, lighting and technical aspects of theatre, and lots more things throughout the day.

“Our Youth Theatre is also holding an Open Rehearsal, so people can watch them working and preparing for their performances that evening!”

Nicole Douglas

Doors open at 10:30 am on the day, and is open all day until 5 pm.
