Joe Orton made a brief and unremarkable foray into acting for the Leicester Drama Society in 1949 before going to RADA and achieving fame as  a playwright.

The recent, fascinating, BBC TV film Joe Orton Laid Bare  can still be watched on the BBC iplayer  for the next two weeks or so and the delightful cartoon film that was specially commissioned for the recent celebrations of the 50th anniversary of his death is also available to view.

For an appreciation of his connections with the Little Theatre see this article by Roy Smith  from our September 2017 newsletter Scene.

The Little Theatre bar also features an original, almost life size, “graffiti” of Joe Orton by the well known street artist STEWY.
