I am so pleased to welcome the cast of Music Hall Tavern to The Little Theatre on 11th February. Not part of Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival yet wholeheartedly comic, the Music Hall Tavern gang take us back to the golden era of Saturday night variety entertainment — at least that’s what I felt when I visited one of their shows on a holiday in Lanzarote a few years back.
Dubbed a ‘family friendly comedy drag show’, the Music Hall Tavern journey started twenty years ago, with two British lads who had hopes of opening up a bar abroad to entertain holidaymakers (by and large). 2016 sees the show going from strength to strength, having entertained over 100, 000 people across the Canaries and a third UK tour under their belt.
What can you expect? Well… plenty of favourites with a mix of the ‘unexpected’. Think Spice Girls, think Happy Feet, think Grease, think Wizard of Oz. It doesn’t end there!
Personally, this show is the perfect antidote to the ‘beginning of the year’ feeling. It’s fun and it’s entertaining, simple. The show has recently sold out which is brilliant news. Not so brilliant if you fancied snapping up a ticket. All is not lost. Check and see on the day if we have any free seats. Alternatively, the MHT folk will be touring the UK nearby in Mansfield on the 24th of February and Birmingham on the 25th of February.
Keeping in with the theme of traditional variety, we also have ‘Wisdom of a Fool’ here at The Little in February. Wisdom of a Fool is a one-man exploration of the great Norman Wisdom. Very much part of Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival, laughs are guaranteed, but you can also expect a no holds barred look into the not always ‘rip roaringly funny’ world of the legend that is Norman Wisdom. You’d be a ‘fool’ (no apologies!) to miss this one….
We are not the only venue in Leicester taking part in Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival. Comedy is taking over this city for the month of February. Don’t know what’s going on? Like to try something new? There’s plenty for all and very wallet friendly!
