Message regarding Coronavirus and The Little Theatre
Due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus, our offices will remain closed for the time being.
Our staff have been moved to the Government’s Job Retention Scheme and will be unable to deal with any Box Office or administrative matters until the situation changes.
This is an unprecedented time for all businesses and our Board of Trustees hope you will understand the decision they have taken in order to ensure the future of The Little Theatre.
We face financial pressures never previously experienced in the nearly 100 years of our service to the theatre going public of Leicestershire and beyond.
If you can possibly help us over this crisis please make a one off or recurring donation to our survival fund
Please rest assured that any matters requiring urgent attention are being dealt with as quickly as possible by a member of the Board and someone will be in touch with you as soon as possible if you email firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
The Little Theatre Team
To all Patrons of The Little Theatre
Tuesday 17th March 2020
It is with great sadness that we have had to decide to close the venue from Tuesday 17th March until we are able to reopen, probably in early September 2020. Whilst we have no reason to disagree with current scientific and government advice on coping with the Coronavirus, the latest guidance to ‘avoid theatres’ has made it impractical for us to sustain business as usual at The Little.
Although we know this is disappointing news, the safety of our members, staff and you, our audience, is our foremost concern. Rest assured this decision wasn’t made lightly.
The Little Theatre operates in an unusual way compared with its local competitors in that it has no Arts Council or Local Authority revenue support. Instead it is completely dependent on ticket sales and donations. In view of this a full refund of all lost performances would be financially devastating for us. We are asking all ticket holders for the cancelled performances to please consider donating the cost of the ticket rather than requesting a voucher or refund. Please do not ring us as we are extremely busy dealing with other patrons. We will try to contact all patrons who have booked tickets for our cancelled shows and discuss your options with you. We hope to be able to revive some of the cancelled productions during the Autumn of 2020 and the Spring of 2021.
Patrons who have booked tickets through us for visiting companies’ productions of The Producers and The Wedding Singer, the Leicestershire & Rutland One-Act Festival and Chicago will also be contacted as soon as practicable.
We will continue to think of ways we can still keep in touch with you all, our extended LDS family. It is unthinkable that this unprecedented situation could destroy the institution which has entertained and stimulated audiences for very nearly 100 years. We will fight hard to keep it here, for you, for us all. Whilst we do that, please take care of yourselves and each other, and keep in touch.
We appreciate your support and your understanding as we all navigate uncharted territory. If you would like to make a general donation to help this wonderful theatre survive, we would be extraordinarily grateful.
