Centenary Challenge Announced

Will you support the Little Theatre’s Centenary Challenge?

We wish  to transform and extend the existing building, some of which dates back to the 1820s, to include much-needed new studio, technical and rehearsal facilities as part of our Centenary Project.

The estimated £3million scheme, however, relies on us being able to raise the funds needed so that we can expand into the site next door, until recently housing the Anchor Centre – a wet centre and alcohol treatment hub.

Now, with the Anchor Centre being replaced by a newly-equipped building in Hill Street, off Humberstone Gate, Leicester City Council has offered to transfer ownership of the site to Leicester Drama Society, subject to the society securing planning permission and funding to build our extension.

Please support our Centenary Challenge Project – our next step is to complete the site surveys and engineering reports and obtain planning permission for the Anchor Centre site.

Please view this short video message from our Youth Theatre which vividly illustrates some of our problems.

How can you help us meet this Challenge?

Donate now to support this project.  You can choose to make a one off donation  or make a regular commitment on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis.

Become one of our STAR donors!

To become a STAR make a donation of £100 or more and we will engrave your very own Little STAR with names of your choice. Your STAR will then be given star status on our pathway to funding our new buildings.  Please Donate online or contact the Theatre Office (0116 254 2266) for further details.

What will you receive for your £100 donation?

  • Our thanks and appreciation for your support to help us revitalise and improve our theatre facilities
  • NOW: Your STAR, with your chosen name(s) or text will be part of an evolving artwork in the bar of the Little Theatre
  • IN THE NEW BUILDING: Your STAR will be part of a new artwork within the new building on completion of the scheme

Bigger STARS

If you can donate £500 or more, perhaps as a special bequest or to commemorate a very special occasion,  we will record this by engraving your chosen message on a bigger Star.  Please Donate online or contact the Theatre Office (0116 254 2266) for further details.

Regular donations online or by standing order

You can make a regular donation online by clicking here  and selecting your amount and frequency i.e. weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly.  This will create a direct debit for you.  Please opt in to Gift Aid if you possibly can as it increases your donation by 25% to us at no extra cost to you.

If you prefer not to use direct debit or prefer not to donate online, you can download a standing order form and Gift Aid declaration here.  This must be completed carefully and signed and then returned to the theatre box office by post or in person.  Forms are also available in the Box Office or they will be delighted to send you one by post if you telephone.
