Tom Jones
By Joan McAlpine
Directed by John Ragg
Mon 28th April - Sat 3rd May
Evenings 7.30pm, Saturday matinée 2.30pm
Born out of wedlock and abandoned in the bedchamber of that tender-hearted and virtuous
man Squire Allworthy, Tom Jones got off to both
a bad beginning and a good one, assured of the
love of his foster-father, a comfortable home and an excellent education, but never allowed to forget his shameful origins.
How he progressed from foundling to young gentleman fell in love and how his heart was broken, how he was turned from his home and what adventures he had thereafter, are the subject of this play - based on one
of the greatest novels in the English language.
