Cymbeline
Directed by Jo Jones
Wednesday 4th - Saturday 7th April 2012
First performed in 1609 - 10, Cymbeline is amongst the last plays Shakespeare wrote.
Cymbeline is king of Britain in the time of the Romans. His daughter Imogen is his sole remaining heir
and has married Posthumus a courtier - however, in doing so, she undermines the plans of her scheming step-mother and her brutish son Cloten, who intends
to wed her himself. Banished from the court, Posthumus enters a bet with an Italian nobleman Iachimo, that Imogen will remain a true and loyal wife. Determined to prove him wrong, Iachimo journeys to Britain... the tale nearly turns into tragedy before the lovers are reunited after much misadventure, and some divine intervention.
