A View from the Bridge
By Arthur Miller
Directed by Bryan Stanion
Monday 7th - Saturday 12th February 2011
It is New York in the mid 1950s. Eddie Carbone, his wife Beatrice and orphaned niece Catherine live in a tenement block in the shadow of Brooklyn Bridge. When two cousins - illegal immigrants from Italy – come to stay, conflicting passions and obsession lead to a desperate conclusion. Based on an actual event and written during the McCarthy ‘investigations’ of un-American activities, this modern classic is as relevant today and explores Miller’s belief that true, tragic heroes emerge from ordinary contemporary lives.
